Portuguese Flannel

Portuguese flannel-making requires such traditional expertise and delicacy in all of its stages of production that it is considered a form of art. Portuguese Flannel is run by António and Manuel Magalhães and made from master craftsmen in the old towns of northern Portugal. One of the distinguishing processes that flannel-making demands is the lifting up of the fibre ends, where expert weavers 'nap' the cloth using a meticulous brushing technique. Doing so creates a long lasting material with a smooth and cozy texture.
