Sunspel was established by Thomas Arthur Hill in 1860 at a factory in Newdigate, Nottingham where it was to become the centre of the British lace making industry. Some of the earliest garments included tunics and undershirts that were some of the first t-shirts ever made. At the beginning of the 20th century, Sunspel built an export business across then British Empire, and was one of the earliest British companies to export to the Far East. Over the years, Sunspel has been famously known for their boxer shorts and polo shirts that became treasured pieces worn by iconic Hollywood actors such as James Dean and Daniel Craig as James Bond. Over 150 years later, Sunspel is still known worldwide for it's consistent quality, detailed processes of creating fabrics, and it's classic and iconic style.
